Josh was born in Moose Jaw and grew up in Saskatoon. His childhood was spent playing sports and spending time with friends and family. Josh completed his Bachelor of Arts degree with honours in Business Economics from the University of Saskatchewan in 2011 and since then has also completed his Business Consulting Certification.
After graduating from University, Josh mostly worked in the real estate industry as a property manager where he managed a portfolio consisting
of residential and commercial properties.
Prior to becoming an independent business advisor, Josh was a college business instructor in Regina at the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology teaching subjects including: Microeconomics, Human Resources, Entrepreneurship, Business Law, and Personal Finance.
From 2013 to 2022, Josh was an international nomad. He has spent a total of 5 years in 30 different countries, living out of a backpack as a tourist, volunteer, student, and teacher. This time allowed him to acquire an abundance of valuable life experience.
Josh has taken Mandarin lessons in Taiwan, Spanish lessons in Ecuador, boxing lessons in the Philippines, cooking classes in Thailand, surfing lessons in Costa Rica, participated in a durian-eating contest in Indonesia, skateboarded the streets of Colombia, served as: a photographer in California, a painter in Japan, a property manager in Saskatoon, a college business instructor in Regina, an English teacher in China, a business consultant in Sri Lanka, a disaster relief volunteer in Texas, a hitchhiker in Myanmar, a chef's assistant in Mexico, has been interviewed on the radio in three different countries, and started two different business, all while being a real estate analyst and author of the Saskatoon Real Estate Economics Blog.
Josh has been very intentional about creating a lifestyle and building a business that excite him, give him purpose, and allow him to utilize his skills, knowledge, and experiences to help others create the lifestyle and business that does the same for them.
Josh has mentored Saskatchewan businesses in various industries through their startup process with tasks such as: choosing a legal structure, registering or incorporating their business, registering for sales tax accounts, obtaining business loans and business licenses, and more.
Josh has assisted many businesses to improve their profitability, navigate hiring employees expand their commercial space, automate and simplify their business operations, improve pricing, maximize tax savings, and improve
their marketing and branding strategy.
Josh provides regular seminars, webinars, and courses on business management and startup topics. Josh also has over 280 short educational business videos on the Magnaltus Consulting YouTube channel, that cover topics related to starting, managing, and improving businesses.
Josh has written formal business plans for various different types of businesses in several different industries including: farming, trades, child care, construction, cleaning, counselling, food services, and patented health products.
Josh has written and assisted with various
forms of business documents including: blog posts, expert reports for legal proceedings, formal business contracts, purchase and lease contracts, and advertising material content.
Josh has helped many business with advertising strategies, developing their brand identity, and creating physical and digital ads like business cards, product information sheets, website landing pages and digital marketing content.
